A New Kind of Quiz

20 Aug 2010

If you’re interested in finding out about the kind of work that people do in the MyTimeDesign programs, take a few minutes to evaluate your skill at Capturing.

In a mere 13 questions you can use this new quiz to determine whether or not you have earned a White, Yellow, Orange or Green Belt in this essential practice.  It should take about 10 minutes to do the test, and I created some short videos to help you evaluate the results at the end of the exercise.

I’ll admit — I’m proud of it, as it’s the first attempt I’ve made to extract the self-assessment portion of my training programs so that they stand alone, and can be used by you to get some quick insights into your skills in this area, and how they can take them to the next level.

At the end of the quiz, you’ll get a good idea which skills you need to work on, if you’d like to take them up a level.

Simply click on the icon at the top right, or click here to be taken to the Quiz on Capturing.

At the moment, MyTimeDesign 1.0.Free will close for registration on Wed the 25th, so if you’d like to get a complete profile of all 11 fundamentals, act soon.

Capturing Quiz

20 Aug 2010

capturing header 2

I have just launched something new that most visitors might enjoy.  It’s a simple quiz that tells you at the end whether or not you are a White, Yellow, Orange or Green Belt in the skill of Capturing.  (As you probably know, Capturing is one of the 11 fundamental practices of time management, as defined in the MyTimeDesign programs.)

You can take the quiz by clicking here:  How Strong are You in the Skill of Capturing or by entering your information below and clicking on “Start Quiz.”  I have put together 5 new videos for this quiz, all around Capturing.

Further in-depth discussions about Capturing can be found my 2Time research site: http://2time-sys.com

I just opened the registration for MyTimeDesign 1.0.Free for a limited time.
Unlike my other programs, this one is absolutely unrestricted in its registration, and the price could not be lower.

However, the class size is restricted.

Find out more about the program at this link for MyTimeDesign 1.0.Free

I have created a brand new Facebook page to help me answer the questions I couldn’t get to on the webinar last night (sorry about that guys!)  The technology just wasn’t cooperating at all, and I had to revert to a backup recording I made at the same time, in order to have something I could share.

After you listen to the clip, bring your questions over to my Questions page on Facebook.  You should be able to see it from outside Facebook by simply clicking here.  As you notice, I am now “The Time Management Guy!”

While this page will be advertised to the public eventually, I’m going to wait until we have gotten all the questions answered from the webinar.

Here is the recording of the webinar — just a warning, there were a couple of gaps when I realized that there was a problem with the connection. It’s an hour long.

After you’re done, remember to fill out the box on the right for early notification, and also to send me your questions to the Facebook page.

I was interviewed by Peter Gales of MoreVidaReview, on the purpose and content of MyTimeDesign.

Here are the 3 clips lasting about 10 minutes in total.

If your company is interested in having its employees take the MyTimeDesign 2.0 program as part of an internal e-learning initiative, then you are on track to producing perhaps the best environment for helping them upgrade their time management skills.

This is true simply because I have observed that working groups that take MyTimeDesign are able to accomplish more, due to the benefit that comes from learning alongside people that you are already working with.

There are a variety of ways that a custom MyTimeDesign classroom can be set up for your employees.

Remote Hosting

The classroom is hosted on our machines, and we take care of all the set-up and class registrations.  The price for setting up the classroom on our servers is US$500, and number of users is limited by our server capacity.

Self-Hosting

The classroom is set up on your company’s servers, and you handle all the registrations and student management.  Contact me for custom prices.

Tech Support

Depending on the level of support that you require, we can provide as much technical help as you are willing to provide your users. Contact me for custom prices.

Pricing

Tuition is the same regardless of the options chosen above.

For 16-50 users:  US$99 each  (smaller groups of 5 and over pay the Early-Bird rate of US$199)

For each user above 51 and up to 100 inclusive:  US$75 each

For each user above 101 and up to 200 inclusive:  US$49 each

For more than 200 users, contact me for custom pricing.

Users have  a 9 month window of time to begin their program.

For more details, simply contact me at http://ReplytoFrancis.info or call me at 954-323-2552 or 876-80-8653.

On Friday morning I closed down the MyTimeDesign store, in time for the first MyTimeDesign 2.0.Professional class to start on Monday. MyTimeDesign 1.0.Free is also underway, and those who signed up are receiving their lessons as we speak.

It was a great 2 week launch period and I got a great response from all who came to the site and took different actions.

Thanks for your support!

I am definitely going to have a re-launch — probably a MyTimeDesign 2.1.Professional after I make some modifications that I already have in mind, and those that are bound to come from the first class.

During this launch, I found that many of you appreciated hearing about the different discounts and bonuses ahead of time, so I am going to keep the early notification list current.

If you’re not already on my MyTimeDesign early notification list, then enter your contact information here and hit Submit. You’ll save quite a bit of money and time by picking up on the buzz before the general public does.

P.S. Come over to my research blog where you’ll find that I’m still working on the latest thinking on time management.

Somewhere in all the excitement of launching MyTimeDesign 1.0.Free and MyTimeDesign 2.0.Professional I carved out some time to address an issue that I has been growing in my mind — the “Weekly Review.”

It’s a simple idea.

Take some time out of the week to survey all the time demands that are in your time management system.  Shuffle the items around until you’re happy with them, and start the week off on the right foot.

However the problem is that the weekly review has turned into a burden for many people, and a tedium that they find themselves shying away from given the smallest  excuse.

The problem isn’t their attitude, or lack of discipline as some would posit.  Instead, it lies in the way they do their “listing” and their “scheduling.”  Strange huh?

Well, it’s  a meaty subject that is well worth the effort to understand because the result is that if you take my recommendations to heart, you’ll want to start to upgrade the way you manage your schedule.

Follow this link to be taken to “Fixing the Weekly Review Permanently.”

P.S. Remember that I’m closing the doors to the store on Thursday, February the 12th at mid-day.  In the meantime, stay tuned to hear about the bonuses I’m putting in for those who register before then.

  1. Thank you for your great article. I also must say that your layout is a pleasure to view. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Amber. I’m not sure how the “urban myth” got as far as it did, but it has caused a lot of people to do a lot of list checking just to make sure that something has not crept up on them.

If I do my weekly review on a Friday, then by next week Thursday it’s tough to remember what I had intended to do at 3pm/Thursday. To remember, I might have to scan every item on my list…. ouchhhhh! LOL (But it’s OK if my list is short…)

  2. I like the concept of rapid capturing and emptying, confronting the inevitability of limited time, before promises — real or imagined — can get out of hand. I have tried the multiple lists suggested in GTD, and went back to mostly one “grand list.” Both are overwhelming to review without the “how long” and “when” dimensions, so….I just don’t, instead planning one day at a time. While this works for near-term tactical tasks, it leaves longer term strategic work undone.

I appreciate the comments on Project Management. If we consider the human soul and experience the greatest project of all, then it only makes sense that we would apply the same techniques that worked to get mankind to the moon, and safely home.

  3. I like the concept of capturing and emptying quickly and confronting the inevitability of finite amounts of time before promises and commitments (real or imagined) get out of control. I’ve tried multiple lists and “the grand list” and felt captured, rather than freed, by both.

Managing one’s self is certainly the most important project of all, and is worth asking the questions not only “what,” but “for how long” and “when.” Good concepts.

Andy — it’s not only OK it’s the only approach that “Scales Up” — in other words, it can grow as the number of time demands expands.

  6. fwade_mtd says:

I use webware like Planzone.com or Basecamp to build out the high level, and when I have figured out the activities that need to be done my me, I schedule them into my calendar.

It solves a couple of the problems that other programs create by not using the calendar at a high enough degree of sophistication/skill. IMHO!

  7. andy says:

Love this – keep asking questions/evidence and we will get to the truth. I am a “graduate” of several productivity programs, but it seems to work best to write something down (on paper) – I seem to take it more seriously. I tend to get things done (tasks) when they are blocked out on my outlook calendar. Thanks for making it okay to not follow a pre-packaged system
